ARE YOU A GOOD DAD?

in our beds we're the lucky ones, filled with the sun

here are bridal shower invitations i recently finished illustrating & designing. Leslie, the bride, wanted her wedding dress and peacock feathers to be a part of the invitation, so i drew a silhouette wearing her beautiful dress, and adorned the train with peacock feathers.

the envelopes are handmade! it was my first time creating lined envelopes on my own, but i found it to be relatively easy. i deconstructed an envelope that was the size & shape i needed, and used it as a template to make my own. the process was enjoyable and i think i'll make many more in the near future.

playing catch up & talking with flora feet

like a terrible human, i have fallen away from blogging completely. here are ten words and/or phrases to simply (and concisely) explain my absence:

- my best friend's wedding | BIRTHDAY ADVENTURES | france | ITALY | cake | HOUSE-HUNTING | poem-tattoos | HONEY | popsicles | SMALL PLANS -

i have lots of photos to sort through+share from the wedding & my adventures abroad, and a few projects/illustrations i'll be posting as well, intermittently peppered with my promise to blog more regularly.

PAST: i've recently finished a tattoo illustration i've been working on for quite awhile, and will happily share as soon as my (really sweet) client gets it inked on her. i also have about one thousand paper good items i designed from my sister's fabulous wedding to share.

PRESENT: i recently released my Christian Louboutin print as an iPhone 4 case! available now in my Society6 shop.

FUTURE: i am currently working on my first full-sleeve tattoo commission, a few label designs (beverages, honey) and pieces for my upcoming show in Seattle, WA.

sending you air conditioners & ceiling fans,

DON'T GIVE UP, JAPAN!

as the world now knows, Japan experienced one of the most devastating earthquake & tsunami combinations this past March, which left over 28,000 people injured, missing, or dead. at a time when so many lives have been disheveled and upset, it's imperative that hope lines hearts & that spirits remain steadily high. everyone needs a little magic, but right now, Japan needs the most.

since March, Illustration Rally has been hosting the Don't Give Up, Japan! rally, which encourages artists to create works that will send warmth & good wishes to everyone affected by the earthquake.

the illustration i created is on Illustration Rally here, and was also recently picked up by Urban Outfitters. It is sold as both a print and laptop sleeve at UrbanOutfitters.com. :]

i've also donated a few prints to an auction that Meg Hunt is organizing to raise money for victims of the earthquake. please follow details of the ongoing auction here- there are some beautiful pieces for sale by incredibly wonderful artists and every cent helps someone put their life back together.

love,
m
